WHO WE ARE

GoGo Foundation (Good Governance Foundation) is a ‘not-for-profit and non-partisan’ organization led by a nationally acclaimed advocate for good governance. Established in 2008 and operational since July 2014, we are proudly headquartered in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Our vision is to promote good governance for all. Guided by our core values of democracy, integrity, accountability, transparency, and a passion for results, our mission is to advance good governance through social enterprise.

We are dedicated to empowering citizens to engage with the government, demanding accountability and transparency. Furthermore, we are committed to combating corruption, poverty, and inequality through the application of social accountability tools, including the right to information. GoGo operates on the premise of the ‘Theory of Change,’ which posits that enhancing collaboration among civil society organizations (CSOs) and various local stakeholders is essential for achieving heightened development outcomes and ensuring quality service delivery.

GoGo Foundation applies tried-and-tested social accountability tools (SATs) and a results-oriented approach, combining them with the expertise of its professional members to implement global and national best practices firmly rooted in the Nepali context and locally owned. This methodology has been meticulously designed based on GoGo‘s expertise.

The approach employs a professionally concentrated strategy, incorporating rapid assessments of SATs implementation, multi-stakeholder capacity development, collaborative actions, and its application. It integrates research assessments, training sessions, facilitation, mentoring, coaching, and follow-up, leveraging various activity components to enhance the overall results. This ensures that the outcomes surpass the sum of individual efforts.”

In addition, we focus on building the capacity of service providers to enhance service delivery and strengthen governance. We also foster civic dialogues between state and civil society actors.  Our activities promote participatory governance by involving citizens in policy reform and implementation.

At GoGo Foundation, we adhere to democratic and non-sectarian principles, which serve as our guiding ethos. We are dedicated to promoting good governance through a participatory approach and being accountable to all stakeholders.  We uphold fundamental human rights and freedoms, condemn all forms of corruption, and our team adheres to strict integrity norms.  We do not accept support that compromises our principles and core values.

In essence, we share a common voice in our journey together to champion good governance.

GoGo Foundation operates under a statute that serves as its principal governing institutional policy. Aligned with this statute, the organization has established:

·       GoGo Administrative Directives, 2074
·       GoFo Financial Directives, 2074; and
·       GoGo Code of Conduct for Employees, 2009

The organization oversees its administration, finances, and staff recruitment in accordance with these policies. Additionally, GoGo Foundation has implemented several other policies and guidelines, including:

·       GoGo Good Governance Policy, 2012
·       GoGo Anti-Corruption Policy, 2011
·       GoGo Ten Year Strategic Plan, 2011
·       GoGo Control of Sexual Harassment, Prevention, Punishment, and Complaint Management Policy, 2009
·       GoGo Corporate Social Responsibility Fund Operating Guidelines, 2076
·       GoGo Computer Operations Policy, 2016
·       GoGo Staff Safety and Security Policy, 2016
·       GoGo Procurement Guidelines, 2016
·       GoGo Communication Guidelines, 2016
·       GoGo Staff Performance Appraisal Report (Periodic)
·       GoGo Staff Exit Questionnaire

These policies apply to Executive Committee Members, General Members, Staff, and Network Partners, aiming to institutionalize governance-friendly practices. They strictly prohibit executive committee members, general members, staff, and network partners from engaging in any unfair or corrupt practices.

The institution also upholds a ‘Workforce Diversity Policy,’ which embraces a positive discrimination approach to encourage the inclusion of applicants from women, Dalit, Janjati, Madhesi, and other marginalized groups in its projects and programs.

The organizational statute clearly delineates the roles and functions of the executive board and staff members. Executive committee members cannot be full-time employees of GoGo, nor can they hold dual positions within the organization.

Since its inception, GoGo has been vigilant in avoiding the distribution of memberships to family members (both immediate and extended) and close relatives. The organization has adopted a ‘One Family, One Membership’ approach to ensure that none of its members are relatives or close family members of any founding member or executive office holder. This proactive stance aims to combat family hegemony and nepotism, starting from membership distribution to staff recruitment.

Furthermore, the organization adheres to sound accounting procedures, conducts audits of its finances through independent auditors, and makes financial information readily available on its website and upon request. All transactions, including salary payments and other disbursements, are executed via cheques, with no practice of deducting any portion of staff salaries for any reason.

We currently do not have any available positions.
